Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 3 November 2026
1. Agreement
These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the StarReply application and related services (the "Service"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
2. Eligibility
To use the Service, you must: • Be at least 13 years old (and, if you are under the age of majority where you live, have the permission of a parent or guardian) • Be legally permitted to use any payment method you submit • Not be prohibited from using the Service under the laws of your jurisdiction To create a creator account and receive payouts, you must also: • Be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live, if higher), as required by our payment processor to open a payout account • Live in a country supported by our payment processor, Stripe, and have a bank account in that same country • Complete identity verification (see Section 7) Anyone can ask questions from any country, unless doing so is prohibited by law in your jurisdiction.
3. Accounts
Creators must create an account to answer questions and receive payments. Askers do not need an account — anyone can send a question by providing and verifying their email address at checkout. StarReply accounts are passwordless. Creators log in by requesting a one-time 6-digit code sent to their registered email address and entering it — there is no password to create, remember, or reset. Only one device may be logged into a creator account at a time. Logging in on a new device automatically signs out any other device that was logged in, and an email notification is sent to the account's registered address each time this happens. Creators agree to: • Provide accurate and complete information • Maintain the security of their email account, since anyone with access to it can request a login code or sensitive-action confirmation code for their StarReply account • Be responsible for all activity under their account • Hold only one creator account per person, and not create additional accounts to avoid a suspension, circumvent a restriction, or misrepresent their identity We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts where necessary to protect the Service or other users, including accounts we reasonably believe are duplicates or were created using false information. Where we do, we may also withhold or delay payouts to the extent permitted by law and by our payments partner's terms.
4. Service Overview
StarReply allows anyone to: • Visit a creator's public profile page (accessible via a unique link shared by the creator) without creating an account • Submit a question directly on the creator's profile page — the question input is open and ready to type as soon as the page loads • Complete the ask flow entirely on a single scrolling page: the question section is always visible; the email verification section appears once a question has been written; the payment section appears once the email has been verified — no separate modal or account required • Receive a private, token-gated page via email where their answer will appear once the creator responds • Receive email notifications for key events (question received, answered, or expired) — these are essential transaction emails and cannot be disabled • Cancel their question at any time before an answer is sent — the hold is released immediately and no charge is made • Leave a review (1–5 stars + optional text) after receiving an answer Creators log in to: • View and answer incoming questions within 24 hours of submission • Set their profile, bio, and per-question price • Manage their payout account and earnings Askers are only charged when the creator answers. If unanswered within 24 hours, the hold is released automatically and no charge is made — on rare occasions even sooner, if the card issuer releases the hold early. Answers are delivered to the asker on their private page. Answered questions and answers may also be displayed to other users of the Service (see Section 9).
5. Receiving Payments
To answer questions and receive payments, you must: • Complete identity verification and save your bank details under Settings > Identity Verification • Have an answer price set under Settings > Answer Price Identity verification is performed by our payment processor, Stripe, using a secure form displayed inside StarReply. It requires your legal name, date of birth, address, phone number, and bank details, and, depending on your country, a government ID number (for example a tax or social security number) and a photo ID or other supporting document. StarReply sets your business type, website, and statement descriptor for you. Both requirements must be in place before you can answer questions. Answers are delivered to the asker on their private page, and may also be displayed to other users of the Service (see Section 9). Answers are final and cannot be edited after submission. Anyone in the world can send a question to any creator without creating an account. Note: Creators set their own per-question price. There is no enforced minimum — creators may set any price they choose.
6. Payments and Fees
• Creators set their own answer price • When an asker submits a question, a payment hold (authorisation) is placed on their card immediately for the full fee — no money leaves their account yet • The hold is captured (charged) only when the creator answers • If no answer is provided within 24 hours, the hold is released automatically and the asker is never charged. On rare occasions a card issuer may release the hold even earlier, at their own discretion. If this happens before the creator answers, the question is cancelled and the asker is never charged, so creators are encouraged to answer promptly. StarReply checks that the hold is still active when a creator opens a question to answer it; if it has been released, the question is cancelled and the creator is told before they start writing • Askers may cancel their question at any time before an answer is sent — the hold is released immediately and no charge is made • StarReply retains a 20% commission on each completed payment creators receive a clean 80% • Stripe processing fees are paid by StarReply out of its 20% commission — creators are never charged extra • If a payment is later disputed, charged back or refunded, creators are never charged for it and their earnings are not reversed — that risk is carried by StarReply • Payments are processed via Stripe • Creators can export a date-filtered CSV of their daily payouts from the Analytics & Payouts section of Settings — useful for tax purposes or tracking earnings from StarReply to their bank account • All earnings data displayed in the Analytics & Payouts section is scoped to the creator's current account — re-registering with the same email starts a clean earnings record 6.1 Account Credit At our discretion, StarReply may grant an asker's account a credit balance (for example, to resolve a support issue). Any such credit is automatically applied as a discount to that asker's future questions, capped at 10% off the question price per question, until the balance is used up. If a question is cancelled or its payment hold expires unanswered, any discount applied from that credit balance is automatically returned to the asker's balance. 6.2 Earnings and Withdrawals Earnings from an answered question are held for 48 hours. Once that hold period has passed with no active dispute, they are released to the creator's available balance. This is checked automatically each day and whenever a creator opens their earnings. Creators then withdraw their available balance to their verified bank account from Settings, with a minimum withdrawal of $10. Withdrawals are only available once your payout details are verified. Once a withdrawal is sent, it typically arrives in your bank account within 1–2 business days for Australian bank accounts and 3–5 business days for bank accounts in other countries. Exact times vary by bank. 6.3 Question Quality and Asker Responsibility Askers are solely responsible for the quality, clarity, and appropriateness of the questions they submit. By submitting a question and placing a payment hold, the asker confirms that their question is genuine, well-considered, and does not contain offensive, abusive, discriminatory, defamatory, or nonsensical content. StarReply reserves the right to remove content that violates these Terms. 6.4 Refunds and Disputes Askers are only charged once a creator delivers an answer, and completed charges are non-refundable. This includes where an asker is dissatisfied with, disagrees with, or did not find an answer useful. Before any answer can be sent, StarReply runs an automated check on it. The check runs when the creator presses send, before the answer is saved, delivered to the asker, or charged. If the check fails, the creator is asked to revise the answer, and nothing is sent or charged until it passes. The check uses an automated language model, accessed through third-party AI services, which reads the question and the answer solely to decide whether the answer is acceptable. It looks at relevance and genuine engagement only. In particular, it checks that an answer: • Engages with the subject the asker actually asked about, rather than a different topic • Is not padding, repeated words or phrases, random text, or an attempt to instruct the checker • Is not only generic filler that would fit any question, a restatement of the question, or a non-answer • Does not mainly send the asker elsewhere (for example, asking them to contact the creator off-platform) instead of answering on StarReply • Is at least 30 words long. Answers to a genuine question have a minimum length of 30 words, and a shorter reply is rejected as too short The check does not judge whether an answer is correct, complete, well written, how it is phrased (including blunt, rude, or profane language), or to your liking, and it does not require a creator to agree with the asker. A blunt, brief, one-sided, or unconventional answer that genuinely addresses the question will pass. If a question contains nothing a creator could actually answer (for example, only a greeting or throwaway phrase such as "hey" or "yo yo yo"), the asker has chosen to send it and bears that risk. In that case the creator may reply with anything, and the question is still charged when it is answered. The check is automated and not perfect. It may occasionally let through an answer an asker finds unhelpful, or ask a creator to reword a genuine answer. If the checker is temporarily unavailable, or the AI service declines to process an answer, StarReply may allow a longer answer to be sent without a full check, so that creators are not blocked by a fault on our side or by a message they cannot act on. Answers sent this way may be reviewed afterwards. The 30-word minimum still applies in this situation, and a shorter answer is asked to be resubmitted once the check is available again. The check is a safeguard, not a guarantee of the quality of any answer, and it does not replace our rules on prohibited content: harassing, hateful, or otherwise abusive answers can still be removed and the account responsible suspended or closed, whether or not the check caught them. Because of this check, and because a question can be cancelled at any time before it is answered, we do not refund charges for answers that passed it. If you believe you were charged in error, or were charged without receiving an answer, contact starreplyio@gmail.com and we will review it. This section does not limit any rights you have under applicable consumer law. Please contact us before raising a dispute with your bank. If a payment is disputed before the related earnings have been released, those earnings are withheld until the dispute is resolved.
6.5 Email Notifications
StarReply sends transactional emails related to activity on your account. These are not marketing emails. Askers always receive emails for: • Question sent and hold placed • Question answered (with link to private page) • Question cancelled after going unanswered for 24 hours, or sooner if the bank released the payment hold early (hold released) • A one-time review reminder sent approximately 36 hours after an answer is received, while the 72-hour review window is still open Creators always receive emails for: • Confirmation that an answer was sent successfully • A daily payout confirmation when a payout has been processed • Failed payout reminders when a payout cannot be processed due to invalid bank details • A security notification whenever their account is logged into on a new device (since this automatically signs out any other active session) Creators receive the following by default, and may turn it on or off in Settings > Notifications: • New question received All emails other than the new-question notification cannot be disabled, as they are essential to the transaction or to your account's security or financial health.
7. Payout Verification & Bank Details
To receive payouts, you must complete identity verification and add your bank details under Settings > Identity Verification. You will complete a secure form provided by our payment processor, Stripe, inside StarReply. This requires your legal name, date of birth, address, phone number, and bank details. Depending on your country, our payment processor may also require a government ID number (for example a tax or social security number) and a photo ID or other supporting document before verification is complete. This information is required by Stripe and by financial regulations that apply to payments, so that identity can be confirmed, fraud and money laundering can be prevented, and payouts can be made securely to the right person. Payouts cannot be enabled without it. Stripe, not StarReply, collects and stores these details; see our Privacy Policy for more information. Verification must be completed as an individual, using your own personal details; StarReply sets your business type, website, and statement descriptor for you. You may add or remove your payout details at any time. To change any of them, including your bank details, you must remove your payout details and add them again. Removing your payout details will pause payouts and prevent you from answering new questions until your details are re-added and re-verified. Because changing any payout detail means removing your payout account and adding it again, you will need to complete identity verification again each time. Questions you have received continue to expire after 24 hours while your details are removed, so we recommend adding them again promptly. Payout verification statuses After you submit your details, Stripe reviews them and your status appears under Settings > Identity Verification as one of the following: • Pending review: Stripe is checking your details. No action is needed, and you should not submit your details again while a review is in progress. • Action needed: Stripe has asked you to correct or provide something. Complete the requested step in the form shown. Your country remains locked while you do this. • Verification failed: Stripe could not verify your details, so payouts were not enabled. Your saved details are not displayed. If you think you entered your details incorrectly, you can select "Try again" to start over and set up payouts again using your own correct legal details. Otherwise, contact us at starreplyio@gmail.com if you are unsure why your verification failed. A failed verification does not unlock your country. • Verified: payouts are enabled. Verification decisions are made by Stripe, not StarReply, and we cannot override them. Until your status is Verified, you cannot answer new questions or withdraw earnings. Each person may hold only one StarReply account, and repeatedly submitting inaccurate or another person's details may result in suspension. 7a. Failed Payouts and Reminders If a payout cannot be processed because your bank details are invalid or missing, StarReply will retain your earned funds indefinitely until the issue is resolved. We will send escalating reminder emails on the following schedule: • Daily for the first 7 days • Weekly on days 14, 21 and 28 • Monthly from day 29 to day 90 (on days 60 and 90) • On day 365 (1 year after the first failure) • On day 730 (2 years after the first failure) — final reminder Reminder emails stop after day 730. Your funds remain held and are not forfeited — they will be released in full as soon as valid bank details are provided. Removing your payout details and adding valid bank details again resets the reminder schedule. Failed payout reminder emails are essential to your account's financial health and cannot be disabled. If you delete your StarReply account, your saved bank details and identity verification information are permanently removed.
8. User Conduct
You agree not to: • Use the Service for unlawful purposes • Harass, abuse, or harm other users • Attempt to interfere with or disrupt the Service • Circumvent payment systems • Impersonate any person or entity • Include profanity or offensive language in your profile description or any other profile fields
9. User Content
Users may submit questions, answers, reviews, profile descriptions, and profile pictures ("User Content"). You: • Retain ownership of your User Content • Grant StarReply a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use, display, and distribute your User Content within the Service Profile descriptions are publicly visible to all users of the Service. You are responsible for ensuring your profile description does not contain profanity, offensive language, or any content that violates these Terms. Profile pictures are publicly visible to all users of the Service. Every profile picture is checked automatically before it is saved. Only JPEG, PNG, and WebP images up to 5MB are accepted, and an image is rejected if it appears to contain nudity or sexual content, graphic violence, hate symbols, slurs or profanity, drugs, threatening weapons, or anything else that breaks these Terms. A rejected image is never saved or shown. The check is automated and not perfect, so we may also remove any profile picture after the fact. If the check cannot be completed (for example, because the service is temporarily unavailable), the image is not saved and you will be asked to try again. Questions and answers are not private. By submitting a question, an asker agrees that the question and the creator's answer may be displayed to other users of the Service (for example in the creator's answered questions, in audience members' feeds, and in bookmarks), and creators agree the same for their answers. An asker's email address is not displayed to other users in the app. Do not include personal, confidential, or sensitive information in a question or answer. You can ask us to remove a question or answer by emailing starreplyio@gmail.com. We reserve the right (but are not obligated) to remove or restrict User Content at our discretion.
9a. Reviews
After a creator answers a question, the asker may leave a review on their private page within 72 hours of the answer being received. • Reviews consist of a star rating (1–5 stars) and an optional written comment (up to 200 words) • One review is permitted per question • Reviews are publicly visible on the creator's public profile page • Reviews are anonymous — the reviewer's identity is never displayed publicly • Reviews cannot be edited after submission • Honest criticism is welcome, but reviews must not contain profanity or slurs, including racial, religious, and other hateful slurs, or disguised versions of them (for example with symbols, numbers, or spacing). Reviews that do are automatically blocked and cannot be submitted • StarReply reserves the right to remove reviews that violate these Terms or our content guidelines
10. Account Actions
You may update your account information or delete your account at any time. Account deletion is permanent and cannot be reversed. When you delete your account, your saved bank details and identity verification information are permanently removed from StarReply, and your payout account with our payment processor, Stripe, is deleted. Stripe may keep certain records where it is legally required to. If you have a payout account with earnings that have not yet been paid out, your account cannot be deleted until those earnings have been paid to your bank. We will tell you if this is the case when you try to delete your account. If you re-register with the same email address after deleting your account, your new account will start completely fresh. No questions received, earnings, answered Q&As, or notification preferences from your previous account will carry over. We may suspend, restrict, or terminate accounts where necessary to maintain the integrity or security of the Service.
11. Availability
We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time without notice.
12. Third-Party Services
The Service relies on third-party providers, including payment processors (Stripe) and infrastructure services. Creator payout accounts are created as Stripe Connect connected accounts under Stripe's Managed Risk programme. Stripe screens, monitors, and is liable for unrecoverable negative balances on connected accounts — StarReply is not liable for such losses. We are not responsible for the performance or availability of third-party services.
13. Disclaimers
The Service provides a platform for user-generated content. We do not guarantee: • The accuracy, quality, or usefulness of any answer (our automated check before an answer is sent only confirms that it addresses the question asked) • That users will be satisfied with responses All interactions are at your own risk.
14. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, StarReply is not liable for: • Indirect, incidental, or consequential damages • Loss arising from user interactions • Dissatisfaction with paid answers To the maximum extent permitted by law, StarReply's total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the total amount you paid or received through the Service in the 12 months before the claim arose (or US$100, if greater). Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any right or liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, including any consumer guarantees that apply to you.
15. International Access
StarReply is available worldwide. You are responsible for ensuring your use of the Service complies with the laws of your jurisdiction. We are not responsible for any consequences arising from use of the Service in jurisdictions where it may be restricted.
